Carol Burrell. President and CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System (Gainesville). Ms. Burrell started her career in healthcare as a medical technologist in the late 1970s. After earning her master's degree in healthcare administration from Mount Pleasant-based Central Michigan University, she took over as vice president of Jacksonville, Fla.-based St. Vincent's Health System before joining Northeast Georgia Health System in 1999. She served as executive vice president and COO of NGHS for seven years and was named president and CEO in 2011. Under her leadership, the health system executed a $550 million capital expansion plan for facilities, operations and IT, and consolidated acute care services at Lanier Park Hospital and Northeast Georgia Medical Center, both in Gainesville.
