Mr. Furnstahl joined OHSU in 2011 after serving as chief financial and strategy officer for the University of Chicago Medical Center and Biological Sciences Division. In that position, he managed the $1.6 million budget of UChicago biology and medicine and gained expertise while planning financial strategy across the research, educational and clinical missions of an academic medical center. In recognition of his leadership at OHSU — which has an operating budget of $2 billion — Mr. Furnstahl was named a "CFO of the Year" by the Portland Business Journal in 2013.
