John C. Lincoln Health Network
Location: Phoenix
Type of company: Hospital/health system
Meet the organization: The health system grew from humble origins as a volunteer mission pioneered by a social worker and a nurse in 1927. The health system's WELLness team received a Process & Leadership in Worksite Health Promotion award from the Wellness Council of Arizona in 2013 in recognition of its aim to improve the health and lives of employees and their families, providing services like "lunch and learns" on stress management, tai chi classes and wellness talks during daily huddles. The system also implemented a transition specialist program for veterans, through which it hires military medics to work with patients during care transfers, as military medical training often does not translate into medical licensure required for civilian practice.
Added benefits: A number of employee benefits begin immediately upon hire, such as the employee assistance program, tuition reimbursement, bereavement leave, military leave, child care subsidies and car and home insurance. The organization also offers pet insurance and computer discounts and purchasing programs.
