David Torchiana, MD. President and CEO of Partners HealthCare (Boston). Prior to being appointed president and CEO of Partners HealthCare in March, Dr. Torchiana was chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, where he oversaw the largest physician group practice in New England, comprising more than 2,000 physicians. He joined Massachusetts General Hospital in 1989 after completing residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Torchiana went on to become chief of cardiac surgery in 1998. Under his leadership, MGH launched the Care Management Program, one of six demonstration projects in the country that sought to develop new strategies to improve care delivery.
