Dignity Health (San Francisco). Dignity Health launched an ACO pilot program in 2009 with Blue Shield of California and Hill Physicians Medical Group for about 44,000 CalPERS members. Following a successful launch, the program expanded to include UCSF Medical Center and provide care for San Francisco city and county employees and retirees. Dignity, Hill Physicians and Blue Shield of California launched a second ACO in 2014 to cover 14,600 Blue Shield HMO enrollees in San Joaquin County. Dignity also launched an ACO with Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare called the Arizona Care Network, which joined the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2013.
