Patrick Cawley, MD. Vice president of clinical operations and CEO of Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center (Charleston). Prior to his current position, Dr. Cawley served as CMO for the MUSC Medical Center, where he led the hospital's improvement in quality and patient safety, efforts recognized by the University HealthSystem Consortium's Rising Star Award in 2012. He co-founded the first hospital medicine program at Duke University in Durham, N.C., and serves as chairman of the Committee on Clinical Leadership for the American Hospital Association. Dr. Cawley is board-certified in internal medicine, was named a Master in Hospital Medicine by the Society of Hospital Medicine and is certified through the American College of Physician Executives and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
