David Torchiana, MD. President and CEO of Partners HealthCare (Boston). In March, Dr. Torchiana was appointed president and CEO of Partners HealthCare. In this position he oversees the Institute of Health Professions, a graduate school subsidiary of Massachusetts General Hospital with 1,200 students, two academic medical centers, McLean Hospital, six community hospitals, the Neighborhood Health plan and a community physician network. He previously served as chief of cardiac surgery at MGH and chairman and CEO of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization. Under Dr. Torchiana's leadership, MGH launched the Care Management Program, one of six nationwide demonstration projects aimed toward developing new strategies to improve healthcare delivery to the most high risk patients. Renewed by the government in 2009, the demonstration was deemed successful and today serves as a cornerstone of Partners' population health management initiative.
