Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (Richmond). Due to it's Level I trauma center, VCU Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery surgeons treat all major orthopedic trauma cases in central Virginia and circulate between five clinics in the Richmond area. VCU Medical Center is No. 36 in the nation for orthopedic excellence, according to U.S. World & News Report's rankings for 2016-17. The publication also rated VCU Medical Center as high performing in hip replacement in its common care ratings this year.
