UC Davis cardiologists became the first in Northern California to offer a new bioresorbable stent in July when a patient received the Absorb vascular scaffold. Cardiac specialists at UC Davis Medical Center are dedicated to developing and testing the next generation of cardiac and vascular therapies, technologies and surgical techniques. U.S. News & World Report ranked UC Davis Medical Center as the No. 1 hospital in Sacramento and No. 34 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery in its 2016-17 rankings. The medical center was also designated as high-performing for heart failure in its common care ratings. Healthgrades recognized UC Davis Medical Center with America's 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention Award this year. The medical center also received Magnet accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
