University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City). Found in 1980, the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only center in the state to hold that designation from the National Cancer Institute. The center coordinates patient care and cancer research and education with faculty across 41 departments and six colleges, as well as UI Hospitals and Clinics and UI Children's Hospital. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer awarded the center with a three-year accreditation with commendation in 2011 and it is also designated a Blue Distinction Center for Complex & Rare Cancers. It was ranked among the top 40 hospitals for cancer treatment in the country for 2015-16 by U.S. News & World Report.
