Chandler Hospital opened in 1962 as part of UK HealthCare, a designated Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery. Albert B. Chandler Hospital is a site for the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, which provides a multidisciplinary approach to spine care. As a regional referral center, Kentucky Neuroscience Institute melds the university's neurology and neurosurgery researchers and physicians, and includes specialists in spine surgery who perform minimally invasive procedures. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital as No. 44 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery for 2017-18.
