Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Neurological Institute sees more than 280,000 patients annually, and surgeons perform more than 4,500 surgeries per year — which is a 30 percent jump in surgical volume since 2013. In 2016, there were 290 active clinical research studies across the institute, which allowed more than 5,500 patients to participate. In addition, the Neurological Institute employs more than 200 physicians and researchers to handle the high volume of neurology patients. Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ranked among the top 25 in the nation for neurology and neurological surgery in the U.S. News and World Report 2017-18 rankings, and earned the No. 8 spot in the nation for neurological surgery excellence on CareChex's 2018 rankings.
