Northwestern Memorial Hospital, part of Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine, serves neurology patients through the department of neurological surgery and its Northwestern Medicine Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute, which was renamed in November 2017. This Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery-designated hospital employs 15 neurosurgeons and eight spine surgeons who perform more brain and spine tumor surgeries than any other health system in Illinois. Currently, at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, there are 16 active clinical trials in neurosurgery. U.S. News & World Report ranked Northwestern Memorial Hospital No. 1 in Illinois and No. 9 in the nation for neurosurgery and neurology.
