Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. Hackensack University Medical Center staffs 30 neurosurgeons and 10 spine surgeons who perform more than 2,000 cases annually. Over the last two years, the hospital's neurosurgery program has grown to include 700-plus endovascular cases and 100-plus Gamma Knife cases per year. HUMC aims to stay at the forefront of clinical research and treatment by participating in clinical trials and obtaining advanced technology for surgeons to provide better care. In 2016, HUMC was the first hospital in New Jersey to offer robotic technology for spinal procedures, and it plans to participate in a clinical trial for interspinous fixation devices for spinal stenosis over the next year. The hospital also plans to join the W.M. Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers University's Spinal Cord Injury Project in 2018. U.S. News & World Report named HUMC among the top 50 best hospitals for adult neurology and neurosurgery for 2017-18.
