Christiana Care Health System (Newark, Del.). Christiana Care Health System's Christiana Hospital Bank of America Pavilion is home to a 30-bed spine unit where surgeons perform about 2,400 spinal surgeries every year. The center's 13 physicians and surgeons are dedicated to providing cutting-edge research and care to their patients, including minimally invasive procedures with image guidance and artificial disc replacement. The hospital also maintains a robust neuro-interventional surgery program that offers endovascular recanalization therapy; around 90 percent of the patients who underwent the procedure in the last year achieved substantial restoration of blood flow to the brain, and 60 percent reported normal or near-normal blood flow postoperatively. Christiana Care is the only Delaware-based health system to achieve designation as a Blue Distinction Center in spine surgery, and CareChex ranked the health system's flagship hospital No. 7 in the nation for spine surgery medical excellence in 2018.
