Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University (St. Louis). The Barnes-Jewish & Washington University Spine Center is one of the largest spine care practices in the U.S., with four neurospine surgeons and five orthopedic spine surgeons on staff. With a special emphasis on its spinal cord injury service, the center welcomes patients from all around the world to take advantage of its cutting-edge treatments and clinical trials. Surgeons are now actively participating in clinical studies for emerging technologies, including artificial disc replacement. The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association certified the hospital as Missouri's first Comprehensive Stroke Center. Barnes-Jewish Hospital was also among the first in the state to earn certification as a Level One Stroke Center in 2015. Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine ranked No. 7 in the U.S. News & World Report 2017-18 ranking for adult neurology and neurosurgery.
