Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. As a hospital dedicated to pediatric care, Lurie Children's neurosurgery division surgeons perform about 1,000 surgeries annually. Lurie Children's houses one of the most comprehensive pediatric epilepsy centers in the region, and its program for pediatric neurosurgery and brain tumors is among the oldest in the nation. The hospital also supports the Spina Bifida Center and Brain Tumor Center, founded in 1975, and was the first children's hospital in Illinois to implement a cutting-edge minimally invasive brain and spinal tumor removal procedure. The hospital also partners with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to deliver pediatric neuromuscular disorder treatment, and reported 26 active trials running through the program in late 2016. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 8 in the nation for pediatric neurology and neurosurgery for 2017-18.
