IU Health University Hospital (Indianapolis). IU Health participates in the CMS Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model, aiming to improve the quality of care and decrease the cost for total joint replacement. Founded in 1997, the high-volume orthopedic hospital also serves as a Level I trauma center for orthopedic trauma and critical care cases, as recognized by the American College of Surgeons. To serve patients across Indiana, IU Health and its affiliated physician groups employ more than 124 orthopedic and sports medicine physicians. In 2016, IU Health surgeons performed more than 4,100 hip and knee replacements. IU Health University Hospital earned the Blue Distinction Center+ designation for knee and hip replacements.
