Boston Children's Hospital. Boston Children's Hospital established Boston Children's Orthopedic Center in 1903 as a specialty institute focused on pediatric orthopedic care. Today, the center records more than 100,000 patient visits and around 6,000 surgeries per year. The Orthopedic Center is home to 13 specialty clinics and a variety of services, including the bone and soft tissue tumor program and the spina bifida program. Through the Orthopedic Center's trauma program, orthopedic specialists work closely with physicians in the hospital's emergency department to provide coordinated care for children with musculoskeletal injuries. The facility also houses an orthopedic urgent care clinic, which provides 12,000-plus patients with quick and efficient care at multiple locations across the state each year. U.S. News and World Report ranked Boston Children's Hospital as the No. 1 hospital for pediatric orthopedics in 2017-18.
