Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis).One of the largest healthcare providers by square feet in Missouri, Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center stands as one of several teaching affiliated hospitals for St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine. Washington University orthopedic surgeons are busy, performing around 1,100 joint replacements annually. Barnes-Jewish also has a robust musculoskeletal oncology program, which avoids amputation in 90 percent of cases by implementing innovative limb salvage techniques. In addition to providing quality clinical care, the hospital's orthopedic surgery departments invest in research and received $394,596 in funding from the National Institutes of Health in 2017.
