Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Hospital. Yale-New Haven Hospital's Yale Cancer Center has earned the National Institute of Cancer comprehensive cancer center designation since 1974. The center is a collaboration between the Yale School of Medicine and Smilow Cancer Hospital, which includes 168 inpatient beds and supports more than 190 clinical trials. Yale Cancer Center reports approximately 358 cancer researchers on its faculty. In 2016, Yale University received 38 awards from the National Cancer Institute, totaling nearly $39 million.
