University of Virginia Medical Center (Charlottesville). University of Virginia Health System's UVA Cancer Center is a member of the Oncology Research and Information Exchange Network, a national research body dedicated to cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. UVA Cancer Center is the only center in Virginia ranked among the top 50 cancer programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in 2017-18. The UVA Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center and receives around $55 million in research funding each year. The center's research efforts focus on cancer cell signaling, molecular genetics, immunology and immunotherapy and women's oncology.
