UC Irvine (Calif.) Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center and home to four cancer research programs. The center hosts programs dedicated to population science, with a focus on cancer prevention and survivorship, as well as two programs on translational and clinical cancer research. In June 2016, the center received $5 million to fund endowed chairmanships and investigations into blood cancers and cancers with hereditary links. CareChex ranked UC Irvine No. 7 in California for cancer care, granting it the highest rating possible in 2017.
