City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.). City of Hope is a 215-bed comprehensive cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute. City of Hope was founded in 1913 as a tuberculosis hospital and has since turned its focus to cancer and diabetes care. In 2015, City of Hope reported 617 bone marrow transplants and 301,477 outpatient and infusion visits. As a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, City of Hope helped develop research and treatment protocols for cancer care that are now used nationwide. U.S. News & World Report ranked City of Hope among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for cancer care in 2017-18.
