Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. More than 70 pediatric oncologists and surgical oncologists staff the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia cancer center. In 2007, CHOP Research Institute established the Center for Childhood Cancer Research to create a translational and clinical research environment for pediatric cancer. The hospital treats more than 500 new patients and 4,000 returning patients each year. Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare, recognizes CHOP as a Cancer Center of Excellence and U.S. News & World Report ranked CHOP No. 3 in the nation for pediatric cancer care in 2017-18.
