University of Colorado Cancer Center (Aurora). The University of Colorado is home to the state's only Comprehensive Cancer Center as designated by the National Cancer Institute. The center is a consortium of three universities — University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Colorado State University — and three healthcare institutions: University of Colorado Health, Children's Hospital Colorado and Denver VA Medical Center. The center is also the only healthcare facility in Colorado to be named a Blue Distinction Center for Complex & Rare Cancers by Blue Cross Blue Shield. On Aug. 8, the UC Health announced the launch of a new immunotherapy clinical trial to be conducted at the cancer center in which modified T-cells will be used to fight acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
