University of Chicago Medical Center. The National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Chicago Medical Center has been named a top 50 hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report for 2016-17. The center receives more funding from the NCI than any other organization in Illinois. On June 6, Vice President Joe Biden visited the University of Chicago for the launch of the Genomic Data Commons, a next-generation data-sharing platform that enables unprecedented genomic data access, analysis and sharing for cancer research.
