Loyola University Medical Center (Maywood, Ill.). The Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center sits on the east side of the Loyola University Medical Center campus and is named after the late Archbishop of Chicago Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, who received treatment at Loyola before dying of pancreatic cancer in 1996. Fifty-five specialists call the cancer center home. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital as "high performing" nationally in cancer care for 2016-17, and LUMC is also a Blue Distinction Center for Complex & Rare Cancers.
