University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Center (Ann Arbor). Seventy nationally recognized neuroscience physicians at the University of Michigan, where providers have delivered spine and nervous system care for nearly a century, administer care for patients with brain tumors, epilepsy, stroke and movement disorders. The 1,000-bed academic medical center boasts a 15-bed neurological intensive care unit and a neuro-oncology Program with 30 participating physicians and scientists. The University of Michigan has a Joint Commission-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Program, and the hospital is a designated Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery. CareChex recognized the health system as No. 17 in the nation for neurological surgery, and UMHS grabbed the No. 32 spot on U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 list of top 50 hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery.
