University of Colorado Hospital (Aurora). The 620-bed teaching hospital's neurointensive care unit is staffed by nurses who nearly all have critical care registered nurse or certified neuroscience nurse board certifications. U.S. News & World Report ranked UCH among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery for 2016-17, and the hospital gleaned three Healthgrades awards over the past three years: America's 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care Award, the Cranial Neurosurgery Excellence Award and the Neurosciences Excellence Award. The academic medical center also clinched designation as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery.
