Hill Country Memorial Hospital (Fredericksburg, Texas). Hill Country Memorial Hospital has deep roots in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County. More than 5,000 people arrived to take a tour when it opened its doors on Valentine's Day 1971 — that was equal to the entire Fredericksburg population at the time. The involvement and interest of the public is attributed to the fact that 93 percent of Gillespie County residents made a financial commitment to the project, according to its website.
