Aspirus Wausau (Wis.) Hospital. Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a Magnet-accredited 325-bed facility staffed with 350 physicians in 35 specialties. It is the flagship hospital of the Aspirus system, which serves communities throughout 14 counties in northern and central Wisconsin, as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The integrated system is made up of three hospitals in Wisconsin, four in Michigan, 50 clinics, home health and hospice care, nursing homes and more.
Best known for its cardiovascular program, Aspirus Wausau Hospital also provides patients with leading cancer, trauma, women's health, spine and neurological care. The hospital was ranked No. 7 in Wisconsin and received a high-performing designation in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology in 2015, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2014-15 rankings.
Six Aspirus hospitals were named to iVantage Health Analytics' 2015 list of Healthstrong Hospitals, including Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The designation recognizes top performing hospitals across 62 performance metrics, including quality, outcomes, patient perspective, affordability and efficiency. Aspirus Wausau was also named to Truven Health Analytics' "100 Top Hospitals" in 2015, which acknowledges hospitals for highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years. The hospital was also named to Healthgrades' list of "Top Hospitals for 2015."
