Fort Madison (Iowa) Community Hospital. Sacred Heart Hospital, operated by the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis for 65 years, became Fort Madison Community Hospital in 1977 when the building and equipment were sold for $1.00 to a nonprofit board of directors. Fort Madison Community Hospital includes 27-physician Fort Madison Physicians & Surgeons Clinics, private in-patient rooms, an expanded surgery center, wound center and an outpatient rehabilitation services center. This year, Fort Madison Community Hospital was named an iVantage Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital. The hospital also received awards in 2016 for patient safety excellence and outstanding patient experience from Healthgrades.
