Allen Memorial Hospital (Waterloo, Iowa). This 204-bed nonprofit community hospital has served five generations of families in the Cedar Valley region of Iowa since it opened back in 1925. Allen is an affiliate hospital of West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, which cares for roughly one-third of the patients in the state. In 2015, Allen Memorial Hospital was named a HealthStrong Top Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics, as well as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country for coronary intervention by Healthgrades.
