Norton Healthcare announces $2.4M partnership to expand workforce

Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Healthcare has teamed up with Bellarmine University to create a new $2.4 million partnership to expand and diversify the regional workforce.

The partnership, announced in a Feb. 7 press release, will last five years and expand existing partnerships in the university's sports medicine, nursing and campus wellness departments.

Ballarmine will use the funds to increase the number of practice-ready healthcare providers by supporting scholarships in nursing with a preference for historically underrepresented candidates. They will also get a Norton Healthcare employee to help staff their campus clinic and provide virtual care services. Some of the funds will also go toward increasing the health support of student athletes.

"We are excited to do more great things together to support not only students and student athletes but those who are working toward careers in healthcare," Norton Healthcare President and CEO Russell Cox said in the release.
