Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, N.J., is offering immediate temporary employment and free meals to employees of a nearby paper mill ravaged by fire last month.
The Jan. 30 blaze at the Marcal Paper Mill plant demolished 30 of 36 buildings on the 30-acre compound in Elmwood Park, N.J., and affected about 500 Marcal employees, according to the North Jersey Record.
Bergen New Bridge said affected Marcal workers may apply for hospital jobs and receive immediate offers. Interested candidates should email a resume to careers@newbridgehealth.org.
The hospital said Marcal employees and their immediate family members may receive free meals at the hospital's full-service cafeteria — the Bistro Café — or at The Daily Grind, which has grab-and-go options. Marcal employees and their immediate family members must present a Marcal ID and get a visitor pass.
Cafeteria hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch. The Daily Grind is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
"The Bergen New Bridge Medical Center family sympathizes with and is here to support our Marcal colleagues and their families in this difficult time," said Deborah Visconi, the hospital's president and CEO.
