Area facilities are offering job options to employees affected by the impending closure of two hospitals in Ohio and West Virginia, according to The Intelligencer.
Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va., and East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry announced Aug. 7 that the hospitals will close within three months.
Wheeling Hospital, WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, W. Va., and Elmhurst, a Wheeling-based assisted living residence, are inviting those affected to look at potential job opportunities at their facilities, according to The Intelligencer.
"On behalf of the board of directors and the administrative team at Wheeling Hospital, we express our heartfelt concern to the physicians and staff at Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital during this difficult time. It is unfortunate that Alecto Healthcare Services, a for-profit company based out of Irvine, Calif., has chosen to close both of these hospitals," Wheeling Hospital CEO Douglass Harrison told media.
"Rest assured that Wheeling Hospital stands ready to continue to serve the community through a faith-based, mission-driven approach, as it has done for nearly 170 years. We encourage all OVMC/EORH staff and physicians affected by this closure to reach out to us and visit our website at www.wheelinghospital.org for a list of job openings. We are more than willing to assist you in your dedication to serve those in need," he said.
Cole Elliott, human resources director at WVU Medicine Reynolds, told The Intelligencer WVU Medicine also has job options and wants to work with the staff of Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital.
Mr. Elliott said employees affected by the impending hospital closures may send applications and resumes to RMHrecruiting@wvumedicine.org or look at job options here.
