The nearly 13,000 unionized patient care technical employees who work in University of California healthcare facilities plan to take a strike vote this week, according to a report by The San Francisco Appeal.
The employees are represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299. If they were to authorize a strike and execute it, it would be the third strike in about nine months for the union at UC, which went on strike in November and May 2013.
UC and the union disagree about wages and raises, according to the report, but have come to terms on pensions, benefits and paid time off.
