Roughly 63 percent of nurses are concerned they may not have enough money to retire comfortably, according to a report from Fidelity Investments.
Fidelity looked at the savings patterns of 28,000 nurses within its workplace retirement plans. They found nurses overall are saving about 12.9 percent of income — this includes nurses' contributions as well as employer contributions — which is within the suggested range of 10 to 15 percent. However, the savings figures are lower for younger nurses, especially those aged 20 to 29 (9.6 percent).
According to the report, if nurses increased their savings rate by 1 percent, it could lead to an extra $180 of monthly retirement income.
