Registered nurses at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, represented by the California Nurses Association, plan to picket outside of the Napa, Calif.-based hospital Tuesday, according to a Napa Valley Register report.
The nurses, who voted to unionize in 2013, still do not have a contract, according to the report. "We are past our year mark, and we want to have a fair compensation package that does not change our patient ratios," a nurse on the union's negotiating committee told the Napa Valley Register.
Hospital officials expressed confusion about the picket's timing, as "bargaining sessions have gone well overall," Vanessa deGier, the hospital's director of marketing and communications, told the paper. "We remain committed to reaching a contract that is fair to both the nurses and the hospital."
The CNA represents more than 400 nurses at Queen of the Valley.
