Corning (N.Y.) Hospital workers represented by the Service Employees International Union — about 450 nurses, lab technicians and other employees — are set to hold an informational picket June 6 if a labor contract agreement is not reached, according to a Steuben Courier report.
Labor contract negotiations started in February but a contract has not come to fruition, and SEIU officials notified Sayre, Pa.-based Guthrie Health, which owns Corning Hospital, of the picket plans May 24, according to the report. Workers are currently under a three-year contract that ended April 30 but was extended until June 9.
The two parties have not been able to agree on a wage increase and higher insurance plan costs.
The union picket is not a strike and will not compromise patient care at Corning Hospital, according to the report.
