Allina Health, based in Minneapolis, will fully acquire Regina Medical Center in Hastings, Minn.

More than a year after entering the due diligence phase of a proposed asset purchase agreement, Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare and Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy discontinued discussions to join their respective hospitals in Hot Springs, Ark.

Carolinas HealthCare System, based in Charlotte, N.C., acquired full ownership of Stanly Health Services, which operates Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, N.C.

Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Healthcare and Edward Hospital & Health Services in Naperville, Ill., announced the appointed leaders of their newly merged system, finalized in early July after signing a definitive agreement in April.

Mission Health in Asheville, N.C., finalized its acquisition of Angel Medical Center in Franklin, N.C. However, Mission Health, and Rutherfordton, N.C.-based Rutherford Regional Health System terminated their nonbinding memorandum of understanding for RRHS to become a member of Mission Health.

The Mount Sinai Hospital and Continuum Health Partners signed a definitive agreement to merge, creating the largest private health system in New York City.

Partners HealthCare and its Massachusetts General Hospital, both based in Boston, closed their transaction with Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Mass., making

Dallas-based for-profit hospital giant Tenet Healthcare Corp. signed a definitive agreement to acquire private-equity backed Vanguard Health Systems, based in Nashville, Tenn., for $21 per share, a $4.3 billion all-cash transaction.

The Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Board of Control in Erwin, Tenn., accepted a proposal from Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance to acquire the public-owned hospital.

Cleveland-based University Hospitals and Parma (Ohio) Community General Hospital signed a letter of intent to merge.

Greenville (S.C.) Health System and Laurens County Health Care System in Clinton, S.C., ended nine-month negotiations by signing a deal to affiliate.

The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn., and Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare have received state approval on a proposed affiliation. The Connecticut Office of Health Care Access has authorized a certificate of need to form a partnership, which means Backus and Hartford Hospital’s regional care network can now create an integrated healthcare delivery system.
