Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health has partnered with federally qualified health center Chapel Hill-based Piedmont Health to combat maternal health inequities by creating a new virtual maternal-fetal medicine specialty consultation service.
The services will include e-consult and telehealth capabilities specialized for women who have high-risk conditions, according to a July 12 press release from UNC Health.
The service will serve rural community health centers and aims to support community doula training and the development of a community doula collaborative.
The project was made possible by a $1.75 million grant to Piedmont Health from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
