Blockchain developers are now exploring how the technology could be used to improve telemedicine, according to TokenPost.
Beowulf Blockchain is among the companies that has partnered with hospitals and health systems to deploy telehealth solutions. The company wants to empower hospitals to build telehealth systems with real-time video conferencing on blockchain.
University of California San Francisco and Stanford (Calif.) Hospital are among the hospitals that are using blockchain to provide telehealth services.
"Being able to consult with patients via a telemedicine platform not only saves time and personalizes the pharmacy experience, but it also increases medication therapy compliance. Patients can quickly send refill requests, access real-time and security consultations with pharmacists via video calling in the comfort of their home," said Henry Truong, MD, to TokenPost.
By leveraging blockchain for telehealth services, hospitals and providers can ensure that the information is being security transferred. Blockchain platforms are also designed to bring more accessibility and affordability to telemedicine, reports TokenPost.
