Teva Pharmaceuticals will close its manufacturing plant in Manati, Puerto Rico, which will eliminate approximately 200 jobs, according to a STAT Pharmalittle newsletter.
The move is part of Teva's broad restructuring plan, which calls for cutting 14,000 jobs worldwide and consolidating six of its seven U.S. sites into one location. The drugmaker announced restructuring plans to offset approximately $35 billion of debt.
A spokesperson confirmed to STAT that Hurricane Maria, which devistated the island in September, was not a factor in the decision.
