HHS has updated its list of medical supplies and equipment protected from hoarding under an executive order issued in February, according to a July 6 news release.
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra removed 17 items from the list, including N95 masks, portable ventilators and other personal protective equipment. Medical gowns, certain lab reagents, specific drug products, syringes and hypodermic needles were all kept on the list.
Items on the list are subject to hoarding prevention measures authorized under the Defense Production Act. It includes medical supplies necessary to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic that are scarce or supplies that could be threatened by hoarding.
