Health Supply US, a medical supply manufacturer based in Mooresville, N.C., said Sept. 24 it completed the delivery of 100 percent domestically made medical gowns to the Strategic National Stockpile.
The company has delivered more than 8.7 million domestically made isolation gowns in the past 12 months. During peak production, the company created thousands of jobs in five states, nearly 85 percent of which were held by women and people of color, according to a news release.
The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency and HHS gave Health Supply US $194 million in contracts in September 2020 to manufacture medical supplies domestically.
"In anticipation of the current contemplated changes to the Buy American Act in 2021, which we are following closely, we pledge our resources and continued commitment to supporting our nation's efforts to revitalize our domestic industrial base, in order to secure a diverse and resilient public health supply chain," Aaron Petrosky, executive vice president of Health Supply US, said in the news release.
