Hawaii blood bank makes urgent call for donors in wake of tropical storm

The Blood Bank of Hawaii is urgently seeking blood donors after severe weather pummeled the region and depleted supplies, according to Hawaii News Now.

Tropical Storm Lane forced scheduled donation drives to be canceled, resulting in the dire need of blood.

Officials from the blood bank said the supply on hand is less than one day's worth. To replenish supplies to optimal levels, the blood bank needs about 500 pints of blood.

To donate, individuals must be in good health, have photo identification and weigh at least 110 pounds.
