Global Medical Electrode Market to Reach $2B by 2020

The global medical electrode market is expected to reach $1.9 billion by 2020, according to a Global Industry Analysts report.

Electrodes in medical devices transfer ionic currents in the body into electric currents used by the device. These devices can help diagnose various conditions, and as diagnostic devices are on the rise, so is the market for electrodes, according to a Today's Medical Development report discussing GIA's findings.

The market is also increasing due to the aging population, raising obesity rates, higher rates of chronic diseases and increased access to healthcare, all of which require electrodes for medical devices.

Additionally, advancement efforts geared toward improving electrodes impact the future market value.

Currently, the United States holds the largest share of the global medical electrode market.
