Emerge Manufacturing, a Cincinnati-based hospital manufacturing company, will break ground on its 50,000-square-foot, personal protective equipment manufacturing plant April 4.
The company, which launched in December, said the facility will "address the country's overdependence on offshore PPE resources for critical life-saving supplies and equipment," according to a March 30 news release.
The PPE products, including surgical masks and N95 masks, will be available for healthcare workers. Emerge said the facility "will run multiple production lines, manufacturing PPE from fabric supplied by U.S. companies."
Emerge said it expects the site to open mid-2024.
